I like Indian dance .πŸ’ƒ

When it comes to Indian dance, there are four types of dance. They are Bharatha, Kathak, Kathakali, Manipuri. Out of these dances I have a passion and passion for kathak dance. This dance is very beautiful and pleasing to the eye.

Kathak dance is a North Indian dance style in India. In the early days, this dance was performed in temples. Later, with the Mughal invasion, the dance was inspired by Muslims. This dance later became a royal dance.

Kathak dance is divided into four main gharanas, viz

  • Lucknow Gharana
  • Jaipur Gharana
  • Delhi Gharana
  • Benares Gharana

The dance stages of kathak are Amad, Salam, Tukada, Gatnikas, Palta, Thatkar.

The music of the Kathak dance was North Indian Hindustani music.  The instruments are pakwaj, tabla, serpina and sarangi.

The clothes here seem to be Muslim-inspired, with men wearing the jothi and women the lehenga.

Kathak dancers include Birju Maharaj, Achan Maharaj and J Wickramasinghe.  Of the current story dancers, Mr. Kumar Sharma and Mr. Mahesh Indika are my favorite dancers.
